| This site is a photographic site that shows photographs by Stephen Metcalfe of Holywell Dene, in Northumberland, North East England. Holywell Dene is a special place. It has a Christian "Holy Well", and runs between Seaton Sluice south of Blyth, Northumberland to Holywell Village, a few miles inland. The Walk This walk starts at the coast at Seaton Sluice, between Whitley Bay, and Blyth in Northumberland, and follows the Dene up to the village of Holywell. The Sluice comes in from the North sea at Seaton Sluice. Passing the odd house we walk down into the Dene. On our right the Seaton Burn splits into a boggy area. The seaton burn has a more defined path again, the trees form a dense screen. We climb steeper and steeper and we follow the path left to Holywell Village where there is a few pubs and a shop I hope you enjoy these photographs of this special place. Steve |
